Comitato Nazionale per le celebrazioni del centenario della nascita di Piero Farulli
Dedication:
It is a great honor to be able to include the Veretti Composition Competition in the events celebrating our great Maestro Farulli. The annual Veretti event allows the most talented composers (… and “talented” is intended to include research, intuition, determination, and other characteristics of our Founder) to obtain commissions in relevant national and international music events of importance, a real professional springboard for these young composers.
The idea of an event dedicated to composition came about eleven years ago, following in the footsteps of the Fiesole spirit that the Maestro has always radiated within the School, where cooperation and courage create new ways to enhance beauty, intellectual exchange, empathy between cultures, and the removal of any barrier that hinders these aspects. Every year, the Veretti Competition is structured on a theme to which each composer dedicates a piece; in this edition, in the important final concert, we will have the great responsibility of evoking the spirit of the Maestro, with a project that will see the viola as the pivotal identity of a large ensemble orbiting around it in a succession of new compositions (about 20), many of which will be of a very high level of excellence.
Veretti, which takes its name from the important composer, a friend of Farulli, represents yet another demonstration of how enlightened the Maestro was because, in every cultural context, the new works have driven present-day ideas and emotions, enhancing the voice of the people and connecting them, not only in terms of artistic values but also, and above all, social ones.
Thank you very much Maestro! Andrea Portera
