Dedication:
My first vivid memory of Piero is at a final concert at the Cherubini Conservatory, perhaps in 1965. I was a very shy soloist and he was the first viola of the Conservatory orchestra, alongside the students, perhaps returning from a tour, a shining example of service to music and to the young people. Then, together with other students, I followed him wherever I could to hear his concerts, excited to be in that wonderful context that was the Music of the Italian Quartet. I later found that same manner, that same generosity at the Fiesole School of Music, always with his indestructible conviction of the ethical function of Music. This will remain forever in me and in all those who have known him. It is an indelible gift that we are all required to pass on, thank you. Mario Ancillotti
