Piero Farulli was a beacon of Italian music, an unequaled Maestro and man of great temperament and courage. He discovered me as a cellist and supported me as a chamber music teacher in his music school in Fiesole. What I love to remember is his authoritative voice when he unexpectedly entered the classroom while I was teaching and said: “Silvia, let me hear how much music you can get out of these kids”. I try to take these teachings with me all the time and everywhere I find myself in the role of teacher.
